[attr="class","sitemain"]
FINDING: Any member can search for wild pokemon, however they are limited to one (1) wild search per character. These will require intensive Staff moderation for chances at uncommon or rare rolls, however a member is encouraged to maintain a wishlist or make a plea as necessary when filling out a request. A single wild thread should spawn only three (3) wild pokemon before it is considered ended and can be finalized. Once the third pokemon is spawned, members may start another wild encounter thread elsewhere.
There are ways to boost success rates while searching for wild species of pokemon. First is to search in their natural habitat, naturally. Next is to bring special lures or repellents to tempt the desired species or deter unwanted pokemon, respectively (see Pokemon Mart for lures and repels). Some pokemon naturally have the skills to track and detect certain species through the abilities Keen Eye, No Guard and the move Sweet Scent for example.
CAPTURING: Capturing a pokemon is a particular process. First and foremost, a pokeball will not properly function unless the target pokemon is wild in nature and it cannot be of legendary status either. If a pokemon passes this criteria, it can be captured, though it is best to weaken them first. A pokemon that is fainted before it is captured will not always trust its trainer so easily, though this is the most sure fire way to succeed in capturing a wild pokemon.
Certain pokeballs offer increased chances depending on circumstances, such as being used in the proper environment or when used to capture a specific type of pokemon. Others have unique functions like having the highest success rate when used in the beginning of battle or during a certain time of day. Some are simply better alternatives to the standard pokeball. The Master Ball has a virtually negligible failure rate, but is outlawed in Alola region.
TRAINER BATTLES: There's always a chance when trying to find wild pokemon that a trainer will jump out at you and declare it's time for battle and in that instance you can't refuse! So on Alolan, we implement the same system. There is a 1 in 20 chance to roll a trainer battle in your wild threads. Trainer battles are written entirely by you guys, and money is awarded depending on the trainer type after the battle is won, IF the battle is won. Mods will judge if the battle is fair and just, and sometimes even a loss can result in something good!
