[attr="class","sitetemp"] [attr="class","tempname"]BERRIES AND HELD ITEMS [attr="class","sitemain"] BERRIES: Berries are an infinitely useful resource capable of being used as a Held Item, or even stored away similarly to a Potion. However they are unique in that they are harvested from the wild. Because of this a trainer can find them quite easily and never spend their money on synthetic equivalents. Also unlike Potions, because they can be held by the Pokemon this offers a few distinctive advantages and trade-offs compared to their competition.
A Berry that is being held is used instinctively by the Pokemon and does not count as an action, but this can only be done once unless the pokemon has an an ability to supplement the Held Berry such as Harvest which potentially allows a pokemon to replenish the Berry. Gluttony causes the pokemon to gain more from the Berry's effects or also provide Harvest's effect in lieu of its intended function not having a translatable effect in a free form environment. HELD ITEMS: Among Held Items are rare trinkets and baubles, but also sometimes Berries. A Pokemon can only hold a single Held Item at any given time, and cannot have a new one equipped during battle. Because of this Held Items that deplete after a single use cannot be regenerated, but only replaced outside of combat. Mega Stones must be held to be used.
