Trial Captains: A Trial Captian is a trainer who has completed the Trial at one point and has taken up the role of the Trial Captian. They reside over a certain island to test the mettle of a trainer who's willing to participate in their Island challenge. Since the Alola region has no gyms due to them not being in association with the League Nation the Island Trials act as gyms as the trainer who completes the trial will get a necklace/charm and can face a Kahuna.
Note: The Poni Trial Captian does not reside in Poni due to it considered being cursed. Instead, they reside on Akala with the Akala Captian.
THE KAHUNAS: The Island Kahuna is a Trainer who presides over a certain island, similar to the Trial Captains in the Alola Region. Kahunas serve as the final obstacle for that particular island after beating the Captains Trial. The Kahunas act as the Elite Four for the Region.
When a trainer successfully earns four Kahuna segments, they complete the totem and may plant it at the Kahuna's Rise. Each trainer's totem tells a different story depending on which four Kahunas were defeated, which is said to represent their legacy to the spirits of Alola.
MISC CANONS: Other Canon positions exist in Alola. Team Skull's hierarchy consists of several tiers of admins and officers down to thugs. Coordinator judges and champions, as well as Rangers officiates have a presence in Alola, although they are largely outnumbered by the indigenous population. Many other important positions exist, such as Professors, etc.
